Have you ever gone to an RV show and had so much fun exploring different models?
I mean, it’s kind of incredible how many options are out there. RVs come in all different sizes and with unique amenities. By going to a show, you can figure out what you like, what you don’t like, and what you might want to upgrade later on.
And as a realtor in the Midland area, I can tell you that the same goes for houses!
When you dedicate a day (or a few days) to attending open houses, you give yourself the opportunity to view homes that you might not have otherwise checked out. This is great because, just like an RV show, you get to hone your preferences as a buyer.
Open houses are especially good for newlyweds or couples who are aiming to buy their first home together. They give you the chance—in real time—to discuss things like layout, number of bedrooms, finishes, etc. with your partner.
Now, if you work evenings and/or weekends, open houses might not work for your schedule. Totally understandable. At that point, I recommend scheduling a private showing with your realtor.
Typically, during a private showing, you’ll get a lot more education about things like plaster vs. drywall, whether the floors have recently been/should be redone, the maintenance required for certain appliances, etc. Again, if you’re a first-time homebuyer, these tips can be invaluable!
Because let’s face it: Zillow can tell you some things, but it’s not the same as seeing a house with your own eyes and being able to ask questions of a licensed professional. Buying a home is one of the biggest decisions we make as humans, so we want to have all the information before committing.
Of course, if you’re in the Midland area and have questions about buying (or selling) a property, feel free to reach out to me any time. I’m happy to help!
