As a daughter, a mother, and a realtor, I dream of a world where everyone has a special place that feels like home. For me, that place is my grandparents’ farm.
I’ve made memories all over the country, but none are as beautiful as the ones I’ve made on those 160 acres. My family’s legacy feels so strong when I stand in that dirt. This is the land where my grandparents built a house with their own hands, raised eight children, and instilled values that have shaped countless lives — mine included.
The farm taught my mom and her siblings about hard work, requiring them to wake up early to milk cows and drive tractors. They knew how capable they were, and they certainly knew the power of family.
Growing up, the farm taught me things, too, even though I didn’t live there. Far beyond soil health and livestock costs, it also taught me about hard work, resilience, and what it means to truly love and cherish people.
For the last 30 years, my family has gathered on the farm every fall to celebrate the tradition that ties us all together. There’s something magical about picking apples from the trees my grandparents planted, pressing them into cider, and sharing the warmth of Grandma’s fresh donuts. It’s a tradition that’s seen four generations laugh, share stories, and connect in ways that no technology can ever replace.
Standing on that land, surrounded by loved ones, I’m reminded of how important it is to have a place where your soul can rest, a place where you can plant seeds that will continue to grow long after you’re gone. A place to write your story.
In a world that moves so fast, it’s a gift to have something that will withstand the test of time. I carry that gift with me every day, knowing how blessed my family is to have been raised with love and strength.
May everyone find a place like the farm — a home to pass down love, life lessons, and a little bit of magic.
(P.S. If you think your place is in Midland, don’t hesitate to give me a call. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have about living here.)
